Your Questions, Answered

  • Getting started is simple. Visit our Artist page and reach out to your artist directly. Tell them your idea and include any questions. They will respond back to get the booking process started.

  • Our artists do not email drawings ahead of time, instead, you will see your design at the beginning of the appointment and any necessary changes can be made together.

    While we know people are eager to see their drawings, we find it's much easier to communicate in person. Additionally, we need to protect our drawings from being stolen.
    Again, if any changes need to be made, we will do them together.

  • No numbing cream!

    Please don’t apply anything to your skin beorehand. No numbing cream or perfume / cologne.

    If you need to use numbing cream, please discuss it with your artist ahead of time and let the artist apply it.

  • Pricing varies by artist and tattoo. Depending on the piece, artists may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate, or a cover-up rate. Your artist will give you an estimate or range of price when booking your tattoo.

    All artists will collect a deposit in order to confirm your appointment.

    We are CASH only and payment is due at the end of each session. Deposits are redeemed on the final session of each piece.

    In addition to the total cost of each session, NY State requires tattooers to charge 4.5% on all tattoos.

  • Yep! Just send us an email ahead of time to let us know so we can plan to have a seat available.

    • Get a good night’s sleep

    • Stay hydrated

    • Eat a hearty meal an hour or so before you come

    • Bring snacks

    • Avoid alcohol the night before & day of.

    • No more than 1 cup of coffee before a tattoo

    • Avoid bloodthinners like Asprin, Ibuprofen, Aleve etc…

    • Shower and take care of your personal hygiene

  • Wear clothes that will make it easy to access the area you're getting tattooed.

    For example, if you’re getting your back tattooed, it’s great to bring a button down or a zip up hoodie that you can wear backwards.

    Be aware that ink can get on your clothes, so be sure not to wear something you care about.

  • Tipping is customary but not required. Here are some general industry guidelines:

    ○ 20% is customary for a positive experience.
    Some clients tip at the end of each session and some wait until the final session for large scale pieces.

    *Some of our artists calculate tips into their hourly rate, if this is the case you will be informed ahead of time by your artist.

  • • You’ll be buzzed into the building, greeted at the studio door before completing your waiver (bring your ID)

    • Review your design and tattoo plan with your artist

    • Stenciling tattoo and placement

    • Tattoo time

    • Short bathroom or snack breaks, as needed

    • Progress or completed tattoo photos

    • Proper bandaging

  • We are less than a 5 min walk from the Morgan L train (Bogart exit).

    But if you drive, you can typically find street parking within a few blocks. We recommend giving yourself an extra 20 mins to park and walk, just in case.

  • A great way to manage the intensity of getting tattooed is to focus on your breathing and stay still. Long, slow exhalations really do help.

    Anything that you can do to get yourself into a calm state will set you up for success. If meditating or exercising beforehand works, be sure to do that.

    Feel free to bring fidget toys or squeeze balls or any other small item that helps you relax.

    If listening to a podcast of calming music in your headphones relaxes you, that’s welcome too.

    As far as medication goes, Tylenol is the safest option. Be sure to avoid blood-thinners, as that can impact the ability to get tattooed as well as the healing.
